About Shannon

Meet Shannon and learn how she started Casco Bay Soap Co.
I started making my hand made, old fashioned, small batch, artisan soap in 2005 simply as a hobby.
My husband and I moved to Maine a few years prior and my life changed a bit. After leaving my corporate career behind (I was a Senior Photos Stylist for a catalog) I became a baker here in Maine. Baking cookies first with a mail order cookie company and then gourmet brownies for a retail and mail order outfit - both were amazing, delicious and fun - and I saw the value that Maine put on small businesses and creativity.
I was l always crafty.  I have had many craft hobbies, alot that I still pursue now.  Sewing, knitting, baking (professionally for a while!) stained glass art, paper making, jewelry, photography...soap making!  With encouragement from family and friends, I started selling my soaps in 2007 at a local farmers market on Saturdays. As the recession hit and my hours at the bakery decreased, I picked up more farmers markets and fairs.  One summer I was participating in 5 markets a week!
Lisa Marie’s Made in Maine was my first retail partner. I met her at a Bath (Maine) craft event and my wholesale business began.
I have now worked full time on soap for over 12 years and the majority of my business is now wholesale, selling to over 70 stores, boutiques, farm stands - small to large around the state of Maine. I participate in a few craft fairs each Holiday season, have a website and am happy to meet you locally if you would like soaps.
